Coffee with Dr. Rooney | Concierge Gynecology and Personalized Women’s Health Care

Back-to-school can be overwhelmingly for busy women and professional moms. Learn how concierge gynecology and personalized women’s health care can help you protect your health, family, friendships, and peace during demanding seasons.

Hello, Friends! I’m so glad you’re joining me today for Coffee with Dr. Rooney. As we move into the back-to-school season, I imagine many of you—especially busy women, working moms, and caregivers—are juggling a lot. Calendars are filling up, routines are shifting, lunches are being packed, workloads are still waiting, and somehow everyone seems to need something at the exact same time.

And honestly? I love the image of juggling, because it captures this season so well. We are trying to keep so many important things in the air—work, family, health, friendships, faith, personal goals, school schedules, after-school activities, and the quiet needs that do not always make it onto the calendar. In a concierge gynecology practice, this is exactly why personalized women’s health care matters: your health should not be the ball that gets dropped.

The Five Balls of Life and Women’s Health

Brian Dyson, a former Coca-Cola CEO, once used a memorable metaphor about the “five balls of life”: work, family, health, friends, and spirit. Work, he said, is like a rubber ball. If you drop it, it can bounce back. But the other balls—family, health, friends, and spirit—are made of glass. When those are dropped, they can be fractured or even shattered.

That image feels especially important in seasons like this one. Back-to-school can bring excitement and fresh starts, but it can also bring pressure. We may feel like we need to be everywhere, remember everything, anticipate every need, and keep every commitment moving forward without missing a beat.

Preventive gynecology visits, well-woman exams, hormone and menopause conversations, contraception counseling, sexual health concerns, and routine screenings are easier to prioritize when care feels accessible, unrushed, and personal. That is one of the most meaningful benefits of concierge gynecology: having a trusted physician relationship that supports your health for real life, not just during a rushed appointment.

An Invitation for Professional Moms and Busy Women

For my Professional Mamas out there, this is your gentle reminder: not every ball requires the same level of protection. Not every dropped task is a disaster. Not every delay is a failure. Some things really can bounce back.

The question is not, “How do I keep everything perfectly in the air?” The better question may be, “Which balls are glass right now?”

  • Family: Who needs your presence more than your productivity this week?
  • Health: What women’s health need have you been postponing—your annual well-woman visit, a menopause or hormone concern, pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, contraception questions, or simply a conversation about how you are really feeling?
  • Friends: Is there someone you need to check in on—or allow to check in on you?
  • Spirit: What practice helps you feel grounded, connected, and at peace?
  • Work: What can wait, be delegated, simplified, or picked back up later?

Choosing Intention Over Perfection

This season does not require perfection from you. (Thank God!) It invites intention. It asks you to pause long enough to notice what is fragile, what is resilient, and what needs to be handled with the most care.
I encourage you to evaluate the balls you are juggling. Give yourself permission to let the rubber ones bounce when they need to—and guard the glass ones with tenderness. If your health has been waiting at the bottom of the list, consider this your invitation to make space for personalized gynecology care that sees the whole woman behind the schedule.
